Common Scams to Avoid
Inside Guilin Liangjiang International Airport's arrival hall, unlicensed drivers quote flat fees 3-4× the meter rate for downtown trips. Ignore them. Walk outside to the official taxi queue. Meters are mandatory there. You will pay the honest fare.
Private-car touts near the airport exit lie. They say the city shuttle bus has stopped running or is sold out. Then they demand inflated fares. Check the electronic boards for departure times. Buy tickets at the clearly marked counter inside the terminal.
Some airport taxis switch off the meter once on the highway. They claim a 'fixed airport surcharge' applies. Politely ask the driver to turn the meter back on. Note the taxi number. Airport authorities have a hotline posted at the rank for complaints.
